There are over 100 mountains that have an
elevation that is greater than 23,000 feet (7,000 meters) above sea level. The
elevation of a geographic location is its height above or below a fixed reference point. It's not common to measure elevation using the center of the Earth as the reference point. Which makes it difficult to determine which mountains are taller than others. With that being said, this is a list of the tallest mountains ranked by elevation.
5. Makalu

- Mountain Range: Himalayas
- Location:Nepal–India border in South Asia
2. K2
- Height: 28,251 feet, 8,611 meters
- Mountain Range: Karakoram
- Location: China-Pakistan border between Baltistan, the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County of Xinjiang, and China the Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan
